In the spring of 2018, two siblings, Danny and Alexandra Will, read a New York Times Newspaper article about how over one billion people in the world have visual impairment because of refractive error. A simple pair of eyeglasses could correct the refractive error but most people around the world did not have adequate access to eye care nor could they afford to purchase a pair of eyeglasses. Many stories were about children who could not see clearly the blackboard at school and fell behind in their academic work. Other stories were about adults who could not see the pedestrians and hazards on the road and were a danger to themselves and others. Danny and Alexandra felt compelled to tackle and help solve this global health issue, and thus, Teen Vision was created. Their vision was to help people live their lives to their fullest potential through excellent visual health and education.
With the permission of local organizations and businesses around Ambler, PA, Danny and Alexandra displayed their Teen Vision Charity Used Eyeglasses Collection bins. Teen Vision membership expanded to include other high school students in the surrounding area. Teen Vision continues to collect and donate gently used eyeglasses to organizations that serve people in need who live locally and in other countries.
